Kimpenhof
A future-proof residential care centre
The new WZC Kimpenhof is being built on behalf of vzw Sint-Barbara and covers a total project area of 8,893 m². The new infrastructure accommodates 83 resident rooms, ten day-care places and ten assisted-living units. The centre also offers modern living areas, a welcoming cafeteria and an underground car park.
Spacious terraces, wide corridors and easily accessible circulation routes create a pleasant and safe living environment. All rooms are equipped with a private shower, and several sensory bathing rooms (snoezel rooms) are provided for additional therapeutic support and relaxation.
Comfort, accessibility and personalised care
During the design and execution, special attention was given to the well-being of residents and the ease of use for staff. Fewer level differences, generous passageways and abundant natural daylight create an open and calming atmosphere throughout the building. The various functions are logically connected, enabling daily care routines to run smoothly and comfortably.
Collaboration and expertise
The design was created by Archipelago Architects, while Macobo Stabo (M-gineers) is responsible for the structural and technical engineering. Construction is carried out by the joint venture TM CORDEEL–STRABAG–Kimpenhof, combining their expertise to deliver this complex care project flawlessly.
