Modular defence infrastructure for a new generation of vehicles

CaMo Infrastructure

In Leopoldsburg, the consortium Cordeel – CIT Blaton – archipelago is building the future of Defence’s motorised capability. The new CaMo infrastructures combine safety, efficiency and user well-being in a flexible and sustainable design, fully prepared for the latest generation of military vehicles.

A strategic construction assignment for Defence

Following an intensive DBM procedure (Design Build Maintain), Defence selected the consortium Cordeel – CIT Blaton – archipelago for the realisation of the new CaMo facilities. The project is an important part of the Belgian army’s modernisation and provides a solid foundation for the deployment of vehicles such as the Griffon and the Jaguar.

Modular and future-oriented architecture

The buildings are designed with a focus on military safety, operational efficiency and maximum user comfort. Natural daylight, clear sightlines and a logical logistical flow are key elements. The modular concept ensures flexibility and readiness for future expansions or technological developments.

Sustainable landscaping with a focus on biodiversity

The site will be largely de-paved to create more space for green areas and natural infiltration. Rainwater will be buffered and infiltrated locally, while biodiverse planting enhances ecological balance. This approach aligns perfectly with Defence’s broader ambitions regarding sustainability and climate resilience.

Four new buildings by 2027

The project includes the construction of four high-tech buildings that together support the full CaMo operation:

  • Two storage complexes for vehicles and equipment
  • One maintenance complex equipped for efficient technical interventions
  • A state-of-the-art simulation and training centre where military teams can practise realistic scenarios

These facilities form a solid foundation for the motorised capabilities of tomorrow.

Collaboration as a lever for quality

The project is supported by a strong multidisciplinary team with Cordeel, CIT Blaton, Ney & Partners, Ingenium, Imtech Belgium and C-maintenance. This collaboration brings together expertise in construction, design, technical installations and maintenance — a major asset within a DBM context.
