Cordeel Group launches Sinqer: our new circular 3D timber construction solution

This month, an important milestone was reached on our project along Koning Boudewijnlaan in Vilvoorde: the topping-out ceremony. In the construction sector, this is a traditional event that takes place once a building has reached its highest point. It is a moment to celebrate the hard work of all partners involved and to look ahead to the completion of the project.

Cordeel Belgium is investing in the Muysenhuys nature restoration project, which is giving nature and water back their space – a concrete step towards tackling the climate and biodiversity crisis.

Two years after the laying of the foundation stone, Brucargo Central was officially inaugurated today. We proudly look back on the realization of this landmark Design & Build project, which Cordeel, together with archipelago architects and VK architects+engineers, developed in record time on behalf of Brussels Airport.

With the symbolic groundbreaking on Thursday, October 2, in Mol, construction of PanTera’s Actinium Production Center (APC) has officially begun. Cordeel is building this groundbreaking project together with Willemen, SPIE, and Imtech within the TM WISICO consortium. As a construction partner, we are particularly proud to contribute to a project that will make a difference worldwide in the fight against cancer.

Cordeel Group, together with SDM Corporate Finance Group and Imtech’s management, has achieved a strategic capital reinforcement via the Smart Deal platform. This provides Imtech with the necessary resources and a broader shareholder base to accelerate its growth and innovation. With this deal, Cordeel Group remains the reference shareholder, firmly anchoring Imtech’s position as a leading technical installation company within the group. At the same time, external investors join to support Imtech’s further professionalization and strategic strength.

C-biotech, a specialist in biological soil remediation among other things, and DEME Environmental, an expert in soil cleaning and remediation, are taking an important step in the fight against PFAS contamination. C-biotech, part of the Cordeel Group, is opening an innovative test lab at its site in Temse, where contaminated soil can now be purified ex-situ – that is, outside the original location – using industrial hemp. DEME, in turn, has opened a test lab at its Sedisol center near Charleroi, where the ex-situ technique is being tested on PFAS-contaminated dredged material. With this project, C-biotech and DEME aim to contribute to a structural solution for the remediation of polluted soils.

What if you could purify polluted soil with plants, without heavy machinery, without digging up the soil - and with nature's help? C-biotech does exactly that, with a circular approach in which hemp not only purifies soils, but also produces bio-based building materials and sequesters CO₂ - a win-win-win for soil, construction and climate. The research C-biotech conducted prior to this sustainable development was recently submitted as a scientific paper. A first for the group and for Filip Cordeel, who is a co-author in a publication for the first time. But what exactly is behind this scientific article? We talked to Ingmar Nopens, pioneer of the project and a regular member of the C-biotech team. With his background as a bioengineer and professor at Ghent University specialising in model-based design and resource recovery, Ingmar brings unique scientific expertise. This knowledge is perfectly useful today in developing innovative, nature-based remediation techniques.

After a unique collaboration between eight partners — including UBQ Materials, SGS, delaware and Microsoft — road safety specialist Trafiroad and C-biotech, a subsidiary of Cordeel Group and pioneer in the use of bio-based (construction) materials, have today installed Belgium’s first CO₂-negative diamond-top traffic bollard in Lokeren. This milestone is the result of an innovative production process focused on local manufacturing, job creation, and sustainable technologies. The project fits seamlessly with the vision of both Trafiroad and Cordeel Group, who aim to develop smart, energy-efficient, and low-carbon solutions through innovation.
