Cordeel Group unites various entities under Cordeel Belgium and appoints Thomas De Loof as co-CEO

Construction company streamlines operations with an eye on the future and opts for a complementary CEO duo

Cordeel Headquarters Temse and Cordeel Headquarters Hoeselt are joining forces to operate as Cordeel Belgium starting in 2026. Together with Bernard Construction, led by Philippe Beaujean and now fully integrated within the group, they form a unified construction collective with national strength, ready to take on an even more prominent role within the Belgian construction sector. To reinforce that ambition, the newly formed entity is also appointing Thomas De Loof (ex-Dell) as co-CEO, alongside the familiar face of current CEO Kevin De Hainaut.

Complementary co-CEOs

To support current CEO Kevin De Hainaut, Thomas De Loof is appointed as co-CEO. De Loof, who joins from Dell Technologies and previously worked at IBM, brings over 15 years of international leadership experience in building and coaching teams, managing KPIs and profitability, and simplifying complex processes.

With the co-CEO model, Cordeel Belgium deliberately chooses complementarity: strong market orientation on one hand, and a robust internal backbone on the other.

Kevin De Hainaut remains the trusted face and figurehead for clients and projects. He leads the commercial division, managing preconstruction and tenders with a focus on collaborative construction and Design & Build. In doing so, he ensures a healthy and strategically sound project pipeline and represents Cordeel Belgium in the market.

Co-CEO Thomas De Loof, on the other hand, will form the backbone of the organization. With a focus on clear reporting and cost control, strong contract management, and a smart, group-wide procurement approach, he will ensure transparent KPI monitoring and consistent processes across teams—supported by further digitalization of workflows. His business acumen, combined with a focus on innovation and sustainability as catalysts for growth, will strengthen the link between finance and operations.

C-biotech and DEME open innovative test labs for accelerated soil remediation using industrial hemp

C-biotech, a specialist in biological soil remediation among other things, and DEME Environmental, an expert in soil cleaning and remediation, are taking an important step in the fight against PFAS contamination. C-biotech, part of the Cordeel Group, is opening an innovative test lab at its site in Temse, where contaminated soil can now be purified ex-situ – that is, outside the original location – using industrial hemp. DEME, in turn, has opened a test lab at its Sedisol center near Charleroi, where the ex-situ technique is being tested on PFAS-contaminated dredged material. With this project, C-biotech and DEME aim to contribute to a structural solution for the remediation of polluted soils.

From contaminated soil to sustainable innovation: how C-biotech is making a difference with hemp and science.

What if you could purify polluted soil with plants, without heavy machinery, without digging up the soil - and with nature's help? C-biotech does exactly that, with a circular approach in which hemp not only purifies soils, but also produces bio-based building materials and sequesters CO₂ - a win-win-win for soil, construction and climate. The research C-biotech conducted prior to this sustainable development was recently submitted as a scientific paper. A first for the group and for Filip Cordeel, who is a co-author in a publication for the first time. But what exactly is behind this scientific article? We talked to Ingmar Nopens, pioneer of the project and a regular member of the C-biotech team. With his background as a bioengineer and professor at Ghent University specialising in model-based design and resource recovery, Ingmar brings unique scientific expertise. This knowledge is perfectly useful today in developing innovative, nature-based remediation techniques.
