Brucargo Central officially inaugurated at the Brussels Airport site

Two years after the laying of the foundation stone, Brucargo Central was officially inaugurated today. We proudly look back on the realization of this landmark Design & Build project, which Cordeel, together with archipelago architects and VK architects+engineers, developed in record time on behalf of Brussels Airport.

On the site, eight outdated buildings were replaced by three new, innovative complexes featuring warehouses and office spaces. The new 83,500 m² logistics complex redefines the airport’s logistics standards in terms of sustainability, operational performance, and innovation.

The backbone of the design consists of circular materials and a flexible timber structure, making the building not only environmentally responsible but also adaptable for the future. Green spaces and a pleasant working environment for employees were central throughout the design and construction process, along with a focus on maximizing space efficiency and logistical performance.

The project fully aligns with Brussels Airport’s ambition to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2030 and has been awarded a BREEAM Excellent certification — a recognition of the sustainable and forward-looking approach that is reflected in every detail of the design.

With this project, we are once again taking a major step toward more sustainable and future-oriented airport logistics.
