Sports Complex De Duin

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, Sportcomplex De Duin officially opened its doors in Opglabbeek (Oudsbergen). With a surface area of no less than 8,250 m² and an investment of 14 million euros, this ultra-modern complex marks a new milestone for sports in Limburg. More than 100 sports clubs can use the facility for training, competitions, and recreation.

A Versatile Sports Center

Sportcomplex De Duin is one of the largest sports facilities in the region and offers space for various sports and events:

• Multifunctional sports hall: Can be converted into 24 badminton courts, 2 handball courts, 6 volleyball courts, and more.
• Spacious stands: Seating for 500 spectators, ideal for top-level sports events such as international judo and badminton tournaments.
• Recreational sports center: 7 indoor and 15 outdoor pétanque courts, plus 8 archery targets.
• Dance halls: Three modern halls for dancers of all levels.
• Extensive changing rooms: 23 dressing rooms with a total of 109 showers.

Sustainable and Accessible

Sustainability and inclusivity are key at Sportcomplex De Duin:

• Energy-efficient: 630 solar panels, heat pumps, and rainwater recycling ensure an energy rating (E-level) of just 50.
• No fossil fuels: The complex replaces four older buildings with an innovative, environmentally friendly infrastructure.
• Accessible for all: Extra-wide doors, a floating sports floor, and an A+ accessibility label guarantee an optimal sports experience for everyone.

Fast Completion and Innovative Approach

Thanks to a Design, Build & Maintain approach, the complex was completed in just 1.5 years.

In 2025, the surrounding sports zone will receive an upgrade with:

• An extended Finnish running track
• A calisthenics park
• Beach volleyball courts
• A multi-sport field with a 3x3 basketball court
• A spacious parking lot with 200 spaces and electric charging stations
• Covered bicycle parking
